  1. Even the original front engine mounts have a habit of delaminating. I always carry a spare in the boot.
  2. I have a remote about that long in my Moss kit car, you sit about 15 inches further back than equivalent GT6.
  3. I had to dig my factory manual out. looks like that version of the 15ACR has some of the wiring external, so has the 2 plugs. As to why... perhaps a carry on from the 15AC as used on the Mk1 PI, that has 2 plugs, and the regulator is separate on the wing,
  4. I keep getting emails inviting me to "squirting school" Wonder if that is lessons on how to use oil cans?
  5. Woody, do you not have the Delco unit fitted to some Mk2 2000's??? That has 2 plugs I thunk.
  6. The clue is in the name I guess. Paint Over Rust 15, it likes a rusty surface. decent chassis paint over a good 2k primer perhaps?
  7. I didn't think you ever took that one out. It isn't in the kits I think. it is always a dished one isn't it?
  8. Pete POR-15 only really works on rusty metal, it doesn't stick to good metal, don't ask me how I (and others) found out. 😞 Might be OK on blasted steel as it will have a rough coat.
  9. Don't listen to her. At the first opportunity leave a set of 11's across the work car park, I can never understand why people work a single longer than they need to.
  10. I have 3 different wheelbarrow systems, a Phoenix on the Mk3 Spitfire, that is quite refined, I had a Bell on my Mk2 ( with Mk4 engine) and that was loud and popped and banged, great fun round the lanes, too noisy on a run. The TR6 has a Falcon system (I think) and that is LOUD. But sounds great, and does quieten a bit a cruising speeds. But boot it and it sounds fantastic.
  11. What does the little plate say? anything on the box?
  12. There has been stories of the new Lucas alternators being poor quality, not needed to try one myself. You could also look for an A127, make sure it has the single fan belt rather than the ribbed pulley. Mk3 Escorts and Transits were a source I thunk.
  13. Double check your numbers... 🙂 a 1200 belt is 11.2cm longer, you need a 1100 for 1.2cm longer than your 1088.
  14. When a friend purchased his TR6, it was loud, VERY LOUD, a previous owner had opened up the twin boxes and emptied them out, and welded them up again. It had to come off, and a standard system was fitted ( in fact my standard system, need to get it back at some point) And he mentioned he had swapped it on a forum, and someone contacted him really keen to have the loud one, despite us telling him it was noisy. Saw the guy a year or so later, and he had been forced to admit defeat and the exhaust had been changed again, I think pressure from his other half and neighbours had a lot to do with it. anyway, GT6 are sensitive to loud exhausts as the resonate in the cabin.
  15. Is that not the other end of the camshaft, so I would not expect it to leak water.
  16. That looks a very rusty clutch cover in the kit. Assuming you purchased just the friction plate, is it the same make as the cover, as different plates need different covers, well certainly on 2000's so I assume same on Spitfires.
  17. Can you look through the old magazines, and see what years the annual meet was where?
  18. Paul, Clive probably had the gearbox rebuild by Bob, who went to work for Mark O'Malley out at Stoke Ferry after Clive died. one thing to try, disengage OD before changing from 4th to 3rd. Couple of my cars crunch if I hurry a change down with OD engaged. Seems to be worse with a J-Type box.
  19. Both look suitable, assuming the Valvoline one is GL4.
  20. I think you just need to reangle the bracket slightly, I had the same thing. other option is a loose cable tie through the spring leaves and under the pipe to support it upwards.
  21. Or perhaps they are just early Mk1 2000 hubcaps?
  22. I always clamp the UJ spider in the vice, shaft can't rotate that way. And I have a 3ft breaker bar and put all my weight on it to load the puller. Occassionally they go as I jump, and it always catches me out and it really hurts as you hit the bench or floor.
