martlet88
Hi guys, After getting the 1300 running, I'm after a few parts so I can begin to drive it and push closer to the MOT before undertaking any bodywork. My next area of focus is the clutch hydraulics. I am after a both master and slave cylinders and have created a summary of my intial sourcing research below. I'm new to Dolomites! Does anyone know if I have explored all the avenues? Any advice on how to differentiate the clutch cylinders currently on the market would be much appreciated! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canley Classics Clutch Slave Cylinder £39.98 (https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-fwd-toledo-dolomite-parts) ANG Classic Car Parts Clutch Master Cylinder £57.95 (https://www.angclassiccarparts.co.uk/products/triumph-5981/dolomite/clutch/clutch-master-cylinder-58-bore-dolomite-1300-1850hl) Clutch Slave Cylinder £40.27 (https://www.angclassiccarparts.co.uk/products/triumph-5981/dolomite/clutch/clutch-slave-cylinder-dolomite-1300-1500hl-toledo) Rimmer Bros Clutch Master Cylinder £47.40 (https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GMC1023) Clutch Slave Cylinder £60.00 (https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GSY105) Ebay (all Master) Borg & Beck via doctor_car £60.62 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clutch-Master-Cylinder-for-TRIUMPH-DOLOMITE-1-3-1-9-2-0-72-81-WF-Saloon-BB/401473929705?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Da54bf5f8fcb44d44b06a00138f408787%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D390265234196%26itm%3D401473929705&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad6146258-354b-11e9-a84f-74dbd180321e%7Cparentrq%3A0c89b0dd1690ad7998f047b7fffd8a13%7Ciid%3A1) Borg & Beck via kmspartsonline £59.58 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-BORG-BECK-Clutch-Master-Cylinder-BCM106-Top-Quality-2yrs-No-Quibb/401564207212?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Da54bf5f8fcb44d44b06a00138f408787%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D390265234196%26itm%3D401564207212&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad6146258-354b-11e9-a84f-74dbd180321e%7Cparentrq%3A0c89b0dd1690ad7998f047b7fffd8a13%7Ciid%3A1) Triumph Recycler £22.49 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MASTER-CYLINDER-Dolomite-1300-1500-1850-Sprint-Clutch/390265234196?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Da54bf5f8fcb44d44b06a00138f408787%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D390265234196%26itm%3D390265234196&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ad6146258-354b-11e9-a84f-74dbd180321e%7Cparentrq%3A0c89b0dd1690ad7998f047b7fffd8a13%7Ciid%3A1)
Guest
If you are after OEM stuff, it is worth giving David Kingerley a call: https://www.obsoletecarspares.co.uk/ Not the cheapest, but excellent stock - he has recently taken over Earlpart. I tend to 95% of my stock from him; he is a very decent chap and very helpful.
Colin Lindsay
In a nutshell: Avoid the really high prices - you're paying for overheads. (£60????) Avoid the really cheap ones, that are listed as "top quality replacement parts for Borg & Beck" etc. These are often cheap copies from Pakistan or the like and won't last. (I've just bought a Borg & Beck slave cylinder for my TR7 and the acknowledgement e-mail states it's a 'top quality replacement' not original B&B. I'll be messaging the seller about that one asap.) That leaves you the ones in the middle! These are cross-reference part numbers for your slave cylinder GSY105 and you may find some of those slightly cheaper: FERODO: FHC6087 BREMBO: E52005 DELPHI: LL36166 TRW: 74066166 BRAKE ENGINEERING: WC1055BE GIRLING: 1106141 FIRST LINE: FBA2044 UNIPART: GSY105 This guy is selling a new master cylinder as a private seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Dolommite-Master-Cylinder-LPR-2506/223398767811?hash=item34039aacc3:g:NAUAAOSwWTZcYE88 However: if you look at the more expensive ones you'll see they're approximately 45 degree angled, as per the originals, and the later cheaper copies are all right-angled. This means the later cylinders will sit at the wrong angle in the engine bay and will take less fluid, and may be more prone to leakage.

Clive
I would take great care with some of teh ebay stuff. I don't think all the dolomites use the same slave cylinder, so Triumph Recycler could be a bit optimistic. He has a line of master cylinders that are "uprated" when in fact they are cheap (and likely the cheapest, therefore not great) landrover parts with the wrong bore. Look similar and fit, but not correct. And new B+B stuff is just re-badged cheap stuff, it is nothing like B+B of old were. So beware! Good sellers of Dolomite specific parts have been Robsport and TD Fitchetts. (the latter you are best phoning them) Also the TDC has had quite a few parts made or properly reconditioned (I recently bought a recon steering rack from them, more than any other supplier BUT they are fussy about the quality of parts they start with, unlike others who will replacea few bits and paint it, can be worse than what you started with)
johny
As said the 'uprated' cylinders are just bigger bore Land Rover items that can be found on ebay for around a tenner. Ive got one and its been fine but obviously didnt buy from Triumph Recycler......
poppyman
Hi Nick, i for one can vouch for the TDC parts. The guy that sources them is very particular and wont put up with any old crap Tony.
