Paulfc
Hi, Has anyone personal experience of Maxxis tyres? I’m not wanting to to purchase premium tyres as I don’t do the mileage to justify it. However, I do want reasonable quality vs price. Comments on any personal experience will be appreciated. Thanks.
Colin Lindsay
I've just had a quick search and they seem quite popular, but haven't found any personal reviews anywhere.
Paulfc
Thanks Colin, I had a good look around before posting. I’ve seen mixed reviews on the other forum but always like to hear what those on the ‘best forum’ have to say before committing.
Scrappy
https://www.maxxis.co.uk/news/tyre/ap2-review I havn't used them Paul but know people that have, with no complaints. There are some good reviews on the link. Alf.
NonMember
I'm pretty sure I had some Maxxis on one of my Triumphs... possibly the PI estate? Or was it SWMBO's Yaris...? Anyway, they seemed a perfectly decent tyre. Nothing remarkable but no complaints.
Pete Lewis
Maxxis they have been around for a good few years , not heard anything bad , and youre right to look at "budget tyres " or 2nd line makes as paying for lets say more superior makes will age demise well before wear or performance has been fully used up so its makes £££s of sense Pete
Paulfc
Thanks to one and all. I’ll be putting the order in this afternoon. Paul
thescrapman
I had a set of Maxxis on an earlier 2000, got them at cost as sponsorship for a CT RBRR. Really good. Got given a set for free in 2018 for another RBRR, again perform well above the cost ( had we paid for them)
Nick Jones
Falken SN832 are pretty reasonably priced and good performers, excellent in the wet. You don’t say which car..... The Falkens definitely come in 13”. Not sure about 15” Nick
DerekS
I've used Maxxis tyres on 3 cars of mine and 2 belonging to 'er indoors now and haven't had any problems at all. Grip, noise, balance and wear rates are excellent. There's also a free puncture repair deal with them too. I do enjoy, err, spirited driving... PeterH
I've had Maxxis on a car of mine. Had to use the damage guarantee after hitting a rock (Devon Lanes ! ). You pay for the amount of wear.
avivalasvegas
I paid £50 for each Continental Eco Contact 6 tyre I purchased and they're excellent. Far superior to the Maxxis option and roughly within the same price range. Highly recommend them!
Paul Amey
Hi, yes I have Maxxis all round on my Skoda Octavia vRS , they have proved to be excellent tyres. Good in the wet, quite and have last well on milage. Paul
Paulfc
Just to round the topic off, bought four Maxxis 165/80/15 tyres. I took the wheels off the TR and took them to the fitter (just couldn’t trust them to lift it sensibly) and paid £232 fitted, balanced, disposal fee and VAT. The final job, the balancing, was done by the apprentice who, as he wheeled them out to me, said, “We don’t usually bother balancing wheels for trailers”!
