  1. Has someone had a go at the centre of that wooden one with a set of false teeth?. Looks like it. For some reason i have 2 x 15 inch wooden wheels in my wardrobe, bought as must have items years ago. One is a Formula and one is an original Les Leston, complete with an original Les Leston Triumph boss still in it`s box, all the way from the US of A. S
  2. My 2.5 has the big saloon box,it will easily pull up hills in O/D top.If anything i would say even with the 3:27 it is a bit short,70 mph is around 2850 rpm in OD top. Steve
  3. Not Quaife, but it was rebuilt by Mike Papworth with a stronger carrier (TR7)?. I do have a Blackline ATB (Chinese Quaife copy) on the shelf but i haven`t got round to building it yet. I know Clive on here went through a couple of 3:27`s in a 2.5 Vitesse but he must be more of a hooligan than me as mine has been fine so far.He went for a Subaru diff i think. Steve
  4. 3:27 in my tuned 2.5 Vitesse putting out around 170bhp,I went for the Jones/Bowler CV conversion. Now what can I worry about?. S
  5. I had a 3 wheels on my wagon moment in my Vitesse on the 2012 RBRR,the rear wheel departed with the brake drum still attached. I was doing about 30 MPH coming out of a roundabout going uphill near Lands End, It started snaking before the wheel departed and ended up in a ditch. Me and the passenger skidded to a halt sliding on the wheelbarrow exhaust. The shaft failed at the Woodruff key, very similar to Colins picture. Now with CV shafts. 8 Hours home on 2 AA lorries. Steve
  6. CMES,i used them for a 2.5 rebuild,i won`t say why on here but i cannot recommend them. S
  7. Yes the same,i just bought one from E bay. S
  8. Did the one that was flapping about have any bearings left?,what did they look like?. S
  9. Bit of a blurry photo but no 3 BE looks toast to me,not sure what the biggest oversize is -30?. The engine shop will have to measure it and asses the damage. Not familiar with your area so can`t recommend a machine shop. Steve
  10. Well i have one on my Vitesse and my 13/60... so there!. I can measure the Herald one in the morning if you like. Steve
  11. I went for a long drive in my Herald, all fine until whilst pulling out onto a busy roundabout, something went bang and it felt like something had gone under the car, pulled into a lay by and went back to find one of my horns which had fallen off and gone under the car and was sitting in the middle of a live lane. Managed to retrieve it so no biggy,no sign of the bolt. Steve
  12. I had reading glasses up until 2020 when i had to pay for a private Cataract operation in both eyes over 12 months, not needed glasses since for reading or driving. Clever what they can do now with artificial lenses in your eye.
  13. Going down the coast in mine shortly, speaking of aviation i was treated to a Lancaster circling my area really low just now, Practice for the Jubilee celebrations i guess as we are near Windsor. Steve
  14. Try Dale at Moordale motors in Potters Bar,40 years of Triumph experience. Steve
  15. On my Vitesse with saloon box and o/d (gearstick switch), i have a 5 amp inline fuse on top of the box tie wrapped to the clutch pipe, been ok for 10 years so far.But i do keep a couple of spare fuses in the glove box. S
  16. Pattern door skins often have a poor profile at the top front where it meets the bonnet curve. Steve
  17. I agree that looks like damage from an impact,and/or dodgy replacement of part of the cross tube. I had the same thing when i rescued my 13/60 in 2012, difference was i knew it had happened because the owner told me. And the old tube was cut off and a new one came with it. Not just an end piece but the whole tube. I did spend a long time getting into the right position before welding.
  18. I was lucky enough to find an original MTP 6-3-1 for my 2.5 Vitesse, that is a thing of beauty.I have a Saloon version knocking about somewhere too. I bit the bullet and took mine to Matt Simpson,ex BTCC who builds race systems at his place near me. He made and fitted a nice stainless system from the manifold back with a single box up under the rear outrigger. Don`t know how much it contributed but the engine made 172Bhp on the dyno and is plenty quick on the road. Moss used to do a fairly decent copy under the Triumphtune name. Not sure now ,only in mild steel though if i remember correctly. Steve
  19. SEM Sunday and Castle Combe Tuesday, sounds like a plan.(spectator only).
  20. I have been offered a Herald 1200 Saloon by a chap who sadly has terminal cancer, possibly with only weeks left. I have a copy of the log book which shows it as Green on a C plate.1147 Engine. I will look at the car this week but i can`t take another one on at present. I believe it was part restored and has been painted. He wants around 2K,i can update when I've seen it. Located in Staines, Middx. Anyone interested?. Steve
  21. Yes it`s the embellishers i have,i will check my lockup this afternoon. Steve
  22. Got a pile of various types of those in my garage, can`t remember where from as i have never had them on a car. S
  23. Can`t find any new brackets online, maybe try Wins for secondhand?. I`ve used them before with good results. Steve https://www.winsinternational.co.uk/
  24. LP923 on my Herald (bought from Clive funnily enough). S
  25. I only use Valvoline VR1 20/50 in my 2 cars, always instant pressure and maintained after a good thrashing. 30 Psi hot tickover and tops out at about 60 Psi at 2500 revs.Zddp is 1400 ppm. Steve
