  4. If you are really really desperate I have a set but I am in New Zealand. Postage would be a bit. Anything is refurbishable so be careful for what you ask! Adrian
  5. Chris please post photos. I have 3 Airfix Herald kits to build and want tom do a Vitesse at least once. I have two individual kits and the third is the combo with TR4 and a Mk1 Scrote. Adrian
  6. One positive is the front chassis on the OPs car will not rust for another 5 years.😉 Adrian
  7. If it does give it might it be at the panel join on the rear deck just in front of the C pillar on a saloon. Thats where mine went Adrian
  8. Prevent the door trim panels from being crushed and so the side curtains will always be at the same position. The door trim panels being soft will allow differences in where the SCs sit depending on how tight the fasteners are, this removes that vagary. Adrian
  9. Not a tool for a Triumph but after making some spacers to mount side screens on a Lagonda Rapier I thought best make a simple tool to aid fitting them. The internal door trim is 5mm thick so the spacers are 5mm from the flat surface to the top of the hat. The spacers will be fixed to the door inner and corresponding holes made in the trim panel. To ensure the spacers are mounted accurately I threaded them so they screw into the nut already in the door and the hole in the middle of the spacer is 9.7mm so the mounting bolts have a bit a space to align. Hope that makes sense. Turning the spacers 8 in total took the best part of a day with constant readjustment of the tools on the lathe. Rim is 1mm thick top hat is 5mm deep and 14.6mm dia with 9.7mm hole. Hardest part was cutting them off which I did with a hacksaw and the lathe spinning, naughty but easier than putting it in the vice and manually cutting. Adrian
  10. Quite common in construction industry most nut and bolt suppliers should stock them. Adrian

I have to careful as my Dad also uses red petrol cans for diesel but luckily the only petrol vehicle he has is the Lagonda Rapier which is old enough to just need a flush if they get mixed.
  12. Do you mean like the unleaded fuel will destroy our engines debate.🤪 Adrian
  13. Thats not right. I machined mine down myself and either used my Southbend 9 lathe or my mill/drill. I am no machinist but iirc it wasnt that hard to do. Mind you I did have as long as it took to do the job so if I looked at it as a paying job I might have thought differrently. How are you finding the starter, when I first used mine I thought I had lost compression it was that fast. Adrian

Mineral oil or PCB was used in some of the power transformers about town when I was doing my time. If you needed a spare pair of overalls for your self or someone the same size we would get our current overalls splashed with PCB, get a new pair then take the old pair home to mum to wash. Old flourescent ballasts used it and you know when they start to leak. They are supposed to be disposed of in special containers. Adrian

My elderly father (88) is a great one for decanting oils etc into different containers then marking on them with permanent marker. Permanent marker is not when volatiles are around. I will only decant to like containers. Adrian
  16. My Vitesse Mk2 CV was owned by a couple of TV news reporters and my Vitesse 6 was once owned by an old school teacher of mine. Adrian
  17. Missed the boat is a huge under statement. Should have as a nation of shopkeepers told everyone to sod off we are closed and shut the borders. Adrian
  18. This is the site to see what cars are in what films https://www.imcdb.org/ But like anything it is only as good as the info that is put into it. I have had a few of my parents cars in different NZ films but they aren't listed. There 2 litre Vitesse CV was in a short film last century. Adrian
  19. My late Mk1 PI Estate had a towbar and after it was rear ended and written off was all that was left in a reasonable shape.
  20. The numbers on the dial just under the shroud if a 1/2 gauge display will begin with BT if it is a bimetal that runs with a voltage regulator. If its a fuel gauge then it is BF. All found in attached document at the end. https://www.revingtontr.com/productimages/docs/00001735/is0011-fuel-gauges-and-sender-units-issue-3-5925692.pdf Adrian

  22. The joys of living in a country where the only creature that can kill you is your fellow human. https://predatorfreenz.org/resources/introduced-predator-facts/possum-facts/ I have mentioned Hedgehogs in previous posts Adrian
  23. I used to invert then fill the plugs with petrol and light them. Dont know if it cleaned them but it was always fun. These days I put them into the ultrasonic cleaner for 30 minutes but they do corrode quickly if not treated after removal. Adrian
  24. You could drill and tap the hole with the diff full of oil while it is the correct way up. Need to be quick as it is self cleaning but messy😉 Adrian
  25. On a slight deviation I bought several sets of the croc clip jumper leads and spent half a day taking them apart and soldering the clips to the cables Most of the leads I have seen have the copper of the wire folded back over the insulation and the clip 'crimped' over it which causes all sorts of grief when using them.
