  1. Have you tried just attaching the temp gauge to the old sensor to see what happens? The sensor is nothing technical a thermocouple at the bottom of the brass fitting held in place with a spring. You could compare to old gauge and even a thermometer. Graham PS Colin beat me to the reply.
  2. Sorry gas struts for boot lids. Have our owners grown weak in limb? What is wrong with with the original set up? As for the bonnet, you brought the car with the original bonnet set up, did you not lift the bonnet when you brought it? If you want an easier boot and bonnet to lift, buy a Reliant Robin. Sorry for the rant but really this was how the car were designed. Graham
  3. Sorry was there a question in the message. A roll over without diagonal? I would follow JohnD advice and have a bar without diagonal. If I was to go for a roll over bar that is what I have, however theses seem to be hard to find. Graham Ps like with your first post light the blue touch paper and stand back. Graham
  4. Well Alan you have now opened the tin of worms, the question that should not be asked. Just like "should I fit this pipe that feeds extra oil to the rockers". Everyone has an opinion and the value of commercial roll bars against race tracks ones. I will now wait for JohnD to answer the question, as actually he does raise some good points. Over to you JohnD. Graham
  5. Sometime ago there was a story in the Courier about someone building a GT6R from scratch. Not sure what happened, from memory the car was slightly larger than a normal GT6. Until the mention here I had a feeling it was an April fool joke. Anyone have any information on this car? Graham
  6. Generally bodies are 1 mm thick. Graham
  7. Did you say it was a tandem system, so have you activated the safety system by over pressing the brake pedal when breeding it, with full pressure on the pedal. From having a mini with a tandem system I never press the pedalling halve way. From memory the shuttle has to be reset, this can be done by moving the fluid reservoir. Graham
  8. PeteH Sorry I have just seen your post, I applied it on a warm day and did not noticed any odd smells nothing to make me question the material, anyway in our car after 30/40 hears you should have strange smells, my Spitfire has a lovely smell completely different to the GT6,which has quite an empty smell. I am very happy with it on the inside of the gear box tunnel. Go for it, a lot better value than the other products on the market. Once when watching one of those US car programs they applied sound proofing to a pick up truck and it was just patches to stop the drumming. With regards to houses the noise would transfer through the joists, in a program about cross rail being built under a concert hall they put the rails on absorbing material to stop vibration, and vibration is just a lower wave form to sound. Graham
  9. By any chance do you still have it and is it black? Graham
  10. Late 1500 had black trim on rear section. Had mine since 1983/4 and not altered them. May be satin black, need to check, could have be anodized, not painted. Will try and post photo tomorrow. Graham
  11. Well done, the positive is you are entering into summer, while we are entering the winter and things are going pear shape in Autumn, God knows what it will be like for winter. Enjoy your summer and being outside in the sun. When's the next flight. Graham
  12. Were not the original door caps in the late GT6 and spitfire thin hard plastic moulded to the extract shape of the door? Graham
  13. Hello You will find that paper records are now covered. Graham
  14. Last year I sold and brought a car through a dealer and any documents I left had my details remove. I was not allowed copies of the previous the rev doc., etc. Strangely the Sat nav still contained two previous owners address. So sat nav seem to get forgotten as people concentrate on documents. This is a shame as we will lose the history of our classic cars. Graham
  15. Pete, did you put some money in the wallet before dropping it. A third earthquake. Graham
  16. Can't editted it, I mean the pipe that goes before the pump, fuel will come out under gravity Graham
  17. Try disconnecting the rubber pipe at the fuel pump in the engine bay. Just need to have a container to catch it, when full you can put the pipe back while you empty the container. Mole grips on pipe will also clamp the pipe shut. Once empty put some petrol in and turn the engine over, once started run the car. Did the same with an Astra, just kept filling the tank every time, except that was petrol into diesel. Good luck. Graham
  18. Well done and enjoy. From your comments you enjoy solving problem and as we know all our car give them to us. So just not get too stressed. Graham
  19. Did I hear there had been another earthquake, Pete drop his wallet again? Graham
  20. I have just been told about a Dolomite Sprint for sale. I approached a tuning garage about tuning the GT6 and I was asked if I was interested in a Sprint which was for sale. Have not seen the car, told it was Damson Red, good condition, 3 letter number plate, actually w reg - so may be 1980. I was not interested but I thought someone here may be. I have no connect to the people involved. Car is in Nottingham. PM me if you are interested. Graham
  21. Yes I have the same problem. Graham
  22. I have gone the opposite way to others, I brought a cheap one to see how I got on with it. It was one of those from a garage when buying petrol. Quite happy with it until the build quality let it down. The most important thing I found was position and how wide the camera views, the reason for this was I entered a supermarket petrol station and a car nearly hit me from another side entrance, they did not give way as per the road marking. The camera missed this side issue. The other thing is picking up the number plate, you need to be able to read this as the other car could drive off in opposite direction to the camera. Another consideration, not only does the camera provide evidence to support you it can also provide evidence against you, just me being careful. Also go for the largest memory card, get the biggest you can. Graham
  23. I grew about metal sheeting roofs, my first garage concrete sectional with galvanised sheet had condensation dripping from the roof. I had to put a liner of plastic under the roof to protect my Spitfire. May be better to sheet it with wood and felt, or even slate tiles. 2nd hand ones my may be cheap and more permanent than felt. Graham
  24. Replace wings, outer researchers and the headlight panel, I am assuming Spitfire/GT6 all spot welded. You will have sound panel. Remember the bonnet is 50% of the cars appearance. Will give you a good bases for the rest of the car. Graham
