Im afraid they'll be repros the same as anyone elses and although they look great can deteriorate very rapidly if not pampered☹️

Fitchets sold them as NOS and they will be pampered

Ah must be different from what they offer now which dont mention limited numbers or NOS and I reckon will have been very expensive😭

Apologies Johny

This overrider is suitable for the Triumph Herald range & Vitesse range. This item is brand new and is pressed off the OE press tool .

It will fit on the left hand side of the car.”
I’ll pamper them even more now

If its the same as mine the shape is great but the chrome is done straight onto the steel and hasnt lasted anything like my front original overriders which presumibly are copper, nickel then chrome onto the steel🙁

I think youve got to virtually keep wiping them over with WD40 or similar to stop them deteriorating...

I know Fitchetts have been advertising a lot of N.O.S. Stuff on E-Bay, I also know they remanufacture various Herald/Vitesse body panels (Got the guided tour several years ago by Andy who works on the Sales counter) but I didn't realise they remanufactured rear over-riders?

I had a good set of Original undented Over-riders front and rear which I had triple plated by a specialist when I Rebuilt my Vitesse between 2002 and 2006, they still looked good when I sold the car on in 2015.

It's Definitely a good idea to coat the inside in your favourite Rust preventive fluid (Dinitrol 3125 in my case) a liberal coating of anti-seize to the captive nuts too.

Word of advice regarding powder coated wheels. Remove the power coating on the chamfers where the wheel nut goes. The nuts will work loose, been there done that!!

I didn't loose a wheel but they kept working loose as the wheel nuts will not grip powder coating.

its the main reason you can find even after 50 yrs that some faces /locations often open to the elements are bare metal  and surrounded by rust

it is not a cost penny pinching but a good mechnical standard still in use today

so painted bling  can be hazardous on many areas especially  on hubs drums discs , couplings  etc  as a few

I'll see you.......

I'll fold. Just opened a 'brand new old stock' rear overrider, sealed in plastic, bought in July 2022 (sadly I can't remember the supplier) and it's not great. For NOS there's a rather suspicious dent along the front edge, which looks like where the bolt usually sticks through if it's overtightened and there's what looks like an unchromed dimple here, it's got two scratches, and the chrome has developed a 'snail trail' pattern which does not bode well for the future, after seven months in a sealed bag in a dry garage. Thankfully it's not for a show car. The inside is mint, like new, and the threads have never been used, but it's suspect.

It might well be NOS, but an item that failed quality control back in the day. A couple of years ago I bought a NOS glove box door for the Herald which was a slight second, tiny bit of contamination below the varnish layer, better than the one it was to replace.

A not that unlikely scenario?. Fitted on the production line, hence dent and scratches?, rejected by the final Q-C inspection, removed and replaced and then placed in the "For Spares" bin, bagged and sealed, sent out as a replacement/spare part.

Pete.
