  1. I was referring to the spacers not he box itself which is three rail, large tip and J type overdrive. Put together by ? as a combination of later parts, came to me with a failed Vitesse restoration bought for the parts. Regards Paul.
  2. Is this a large tip on main shaft gearbox?, if so mine had a couple of spacers for the bearing. Don't know if it is standard as my three rail box, reverse by first, has a fine spline input shaft. Regards Paul
  3. Have had several gearboxes apart including the one currently in the Vitesse in which I had to replace third gear and the cluster, no special tools needed except a length of rod to hold the cluster needles in place. Do not use grease to hold bits in place on reassembly, petroleum jelly, Vasolene, is the stuff to use. Told some restorers grind down the main shaft tip and fit sleeve or fit oversized input shaft bearing weakening an already weak part, maybe just a tale. Regards Paul
  4. Air can be drawn down the threads of the bleed nipple if it is not tightened between pedal strokes. Regards Paul

Only 34p you jammy bu??ur. 😡😡😡 Regards Paul.
  6. Delt with Mike Papworth, Coventry, and Overdrive Repair Services, Sheffield, when I broke the overdrive gearbox in my Vitesse several years ago. Some teeth came of third gear on the cluster. Found both very helpful with advice and good quality spares. Regards Paul.

If intending to burn old engine oil. https://garagewire.co.uk/news/associations/iga/small-waste-oil-burner-confusion-remains-two-years-on-from-regulation-changes/ Regards Paul.
  8. The shackles on my spring had bolts in a spacer tube, used stainless steel tube and bolts on rebuild. Regards. Paul.
  9. This happened when I removed radiator cap, not the first time for this, must be the current "quality parts". Ordered two from the local parts store so that I have a spare. Regards Paul.
  10. Walking in Norwich yesterday a blue TR7 with the roof down and a Morris 1100 looking in very good condition. Regards Paul
  11. Hinges can be swopped top to bottom as they wear differently. Regards. Paul.
  12. https://www.amazon.co.uk/FootFitter-Bunion-Stretcher-Stretching-Device/dp/B08V5918M9/ref=asc_df_B08V5918M9/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=500982466467&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1720609013153148330&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006964&hvtargid=pla-1222170820965&psc=1 Or possibly adapt a locking c clamp. Regards Paul.

    Compressor

I bought a direct drive SIP 3hp twin cylinder compressor as shop soiled only a 50Litre tank but it copes quite well with spraying etc. Regard Paul
  14. The exhaust system on my Mk1 2L Vitesse is the same one on the car when I bought it in the mid nineties, had a stainless one on for a short while but put the original back on as the stainless was a terrible fit. Front section when bolted to manifold to tight on bell housing and middle section to short. Regards Paul
  15. Never understood why people will pay a premium for a car with a previous "famous" owner. Regards. Paul.
  16. Find the two nuts for my exhaust manifold on my Mk1 Vitesse work loose so have fitted lock nuts. Regards Paul
  17. Added pipes to air box on my Mk1 Vitesse, standard on Mk2, but air box has holes in the bottom presumably for water drain, but wonder how much air is drawn in that way. Regards Paul.
  18. My Vitesse as said above, front chassis front cross member, and rear under diff. Regards Paul
  19. Or short piece of tube just larger than shaft diameter on top of the split bearing pullers and press the shaft through pushing from the flange end. Lot more controllable than hitting with a hammer, l used a flat piece of thick steel with a hole in it instead of a piece of tube. Also added a drain plug while back cover was off, gasket a bad fit, from one of the usual suspects, bearings and seal sourced from local companies. Regards Paul Regards Paul
  20. Fitted half inch lowering block to my Mk1 Vitesse after fitting lower springs to the front as I didn't like the appearance with standard springs. Thought the front was to high, the gap between top off tyre and bottom of wheel arch just looked to big. Regards Paul
  21. I just used stainless steel nuts and bolt with a stainless spacer tube, much simpler and cleaner. Regards Paul
  22. Vitesse could have wrong seats fitted, difficult to tell. Regards Paul
  23. Noticed a similar thing on my 2L Mk1 Vitesse, one off the breather hoses had split, a split diaphram in the smiths valve can cause a similar condition. Regards Paul
  24. Fitted Superflex from Chris Winter to my Vitesse. Regards Paul.
