  1. Bought some land rover studs for my Vitesse, found the threaded portion was to short, nut bottomed out before securely holding the wheel. Regards Paul.
  2. Never been a problem on my 2L Mk1, the dowel on my engine is only to locate the inlet manifold. Perhaps yours has been replaced with one which is to long or not fully seated, if mine I would be tempted to shorten it. Regards Paul.
  3. Had trouble with the compression fitting sealing on the outlet from the petrol pump, 2L Mk1 Vitesse, so fitted a small O ring pump side off olive which solved the issue. Think the larger bore petrol pipe on M2 Vitesse is only between tank and pump but I'm often wrong. Regards Paul.
  4. When I converted my Vitesse 2L Mk1 to alternator I used the alternator bracket used on later four cylinder iron engines. As said above needed a different belt and upgraded the wiring. Regards Paul.
  5. That's the one, but mine had two short bolts instead of one long one. Regards Paul
  6. When I got my Vitesse it had a lean, turned out to be the rear diff mounting holes in the chassis were worn on one side letting the diff twist. Had to cut the bolts, rusted into the rear bushes, and weld washers to the chassis to repair the holes after which all good. Regards Paul
  7. Bought stainless blades for my Vitesse at a show, the metal holder was ok but the rubber blade was poorly made, bough some Halford refills and with a bit of fiddling fitted and work fine. Regards Paul
  8. All fuel rubber hoses recently replaced with gates barricade from club shop, no sign of bubbles when engine running. Has to be boiling petrol. Regards Paul.
  9. In the recent hot weather found my 2L Mk1 Vitesse, standard but with electric fans, very difficult to restart when hot if left for a short time but fine if left for an hour or so. Had moved a glass type filter from just after the tank to just before the carbs. moved it back and problem went away. After one run before moving it back parked car in garage when looking about five minutes later fuel filter empty of fuel and petrol in glass top pump boiling, an hour later filter full of petrol. A few utube videos with same restart problem stated restart problem due to very rich mixture, as above, some had gone to the trouble of fitting a filer vapour separater with a return line to the tank. Regards Paul
  10. Item 3 available from usual suspects, or was last time I wanted one. Regards Paul

    Sump plug leak

According to my WSM it is a dryseal thread which I believe is NPTF the F standing for fuel and is designed to seal without any sealant. NPT has same pitch and thread angle but will not seal as thread is cut differently. Regards Paul
  12. If it's like the one on my J type overdrive it should separate at that point, also the gear should just pull out from memory. Regards Paul
  13. Not home made or modified. A JBM extending extension for half inch sockets, never know they existed till seen in a tool shop window while on holiday. Regards Paul.
  14. You might want to read this about fitting tubeless tyres with tubes https://www.bigtyres.co.uk/blog/fitting-tubes-in-tubeless-tyres.html All tyres are date marked, when I bought a set for my Vitesse the other year I made sure they where under a year old, uncommon sizes can hang around in stock. Perhaps tubes where fitted because corroded rims didn't let the tyre seal. Regards Paul
  15. As above. Yes,as method I use no1 rockers on balance set no.6 and continue in firing order. Regards Paul
  16. Not till Thursday, then I'll upload a couple. In Portugal. Regards Paul
  17. During COVID managed to buy some leather offcuts from an upholsterers and made leather overboots for handbrake, gear lever and recovered steering wheel after watching some utube videos. Regards Paul
  18. Probably the hole in the tunnel cover hole is the problem after all these years, I have a glass fibre cover in my Vitesse Mk1 and it's never been a problem. Regards Paul.
  19. Hook the spring on the main body of the catch then pass a piece of doubled button thread through the wedge, hook it on the spring then slide the wedge along the spring and thread to hook it on the wedge. Regards Paul.
  20. Always found metric units confusing, to similar, with good old imperial you know where you are. Regards Paul
  21. As Pete Lewis post above. Regards Paul.
  22. I believe speedometer has metric thread and angle drive has BSC and not close in size. Regards Paul.
