  1. Do not know what he charges but a weeks work at £40 per hour comes to ....., and some of those jobs mentioned take more time than first appear eg removing dash panels & clocks, brake issues etc as some of us well know. Dick
  2. IIRC there was a 'fashionable' handle you could buy to replace the wire and customise the interior. Dick
  3. Rick, Welcome,,and does not look too ropey from here. Looking forward to meeting you at the Southern Area meets whenever they re-start. Bodywork recommendations from two chums who have used them are "ERB Motors, Claybank Spur, Portsmouth. They are specialist with classic cars and take pride in their work, family business" That one has a GT6 Mk2 they did a good job on. They are also used by another who is a serious/series classic car buff and they are currently sorting out the spraying of the second MGBGT V8 Sebring he has built. Mechanically I can recommend Lillywhite's in Emsworth. Very classic orientated and Mike races an MGB and they look after some of the Revival cars when the event is brewing/on. PM if you want more details, and use my name if you end up talking to Mike! Dick
  4. Kelv, Echo Clive's advice above; there is a South Wales Area in the, well worth joining, club. If you look on the home page under 'Area' for contact details and I would start there for local support/advice in these early days of ownership. Dick
  5. Quite common in the marine world. I use it in the remote tank with the vent cracked open on my 4-stroke outboard engine which sits in the sunshine and gets very little use with sailing on/off the mooring April to October; no problems with the fuel or starting the engine when I need to. Gets transferred to the GT6 when the boat comes out of the water and no problems in her either. Dick
  6. If only you could remember what they were! Dick
  7. You were lucky, you had a home ......! Cannot remember the rest of the skit but something about cardboard boxes if I recall correctly.
  8. Sorry to hear about your woes, but keep safe and plodding on. As to the choice .........! Dick
  9. Suspect the circled switch may well be the wipers and check the fuses before you go any further on the indicator issue. Yes, there are some Mk1 GT6 switches there; middle column bottom up heater, lights and heater fan and the two on the left are windscreen washer and heater box vents (windscreen/footwell) if that helps. Dick
  10. I used Stone Chip on the floor, and the rest of the interior to be honest, and it shows no change or wear after 14 years of use. I also wanted to avoid a gloss finish. Dick
  11. Actually Hunt Class minesweepers/hunters not destroyers. The Hunt's are GRP, but engines were originally used in the earlier Ton class 'sweepers which were wood. The Deltics are now being replaced in the Hunt's. Dick (another old sea dog/git)
  12. And a gouge in the drivers door, and I know they are reflections but just behind the OS headlight? Dick
  13. I found that a strip of wood on the trim and a gentle tap with a mallet worked with a third hand to hold the home made tool. Dick
  14. Frogeye (Mk1) Sprite had no boot and Peter's memories the same as mine, particularly with the hood up in the rain. Mk2 Sprite (had one of those as well) the same same as a Mk1 Midget did have a boot. Like Peter I also then went to Triumphs and a Coupe that the O/S trunnion collapsed on and I decided to runaway to sea! Dick
  15. I would doubt it very much. I have had my GT6 on the road and used regularly for the past 15 years and manage just fine; not sure exactly what you want to put in the back of a GT6, from your posts you seem to have plenty of other options for the tip run. Dick
  16. Born and raised in Coventry all the car factories had parking lots around city for the new cars, in some cases just before moving them to become a showroom queen. My GT6 came off the production line 21 Nov 67 but first registered 1 Jan 69. Nothing new: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/standard-motor-company-history-coventry-15803806 But this perhaps a bit Covid extreme! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8290433/Old-RAF-airbase-packed-35m-worth-cars-wants-amid-covid-19-crisis.html Dick

  18. When you Log in to the shop with your TSSC membership number you get 'Bern's best price'. Dick
  19. Because it would put the solar panels in the shade! Dick
  20. To resurrect this thread I have just fitted the UJ recommended by Clive to my GT6 and it has transformed the steering. Having replaced the worn, original, knuckle with a UJ from James Paddock there was a slight improvement but after 12 months still not good and I convinced myself the steering rack was to blame. However, with a second pair of eyes to help, the splines were not gripping on the rack. The Chris Witor one is physically larger and I used some lower profile nyloc nuts to clear the suspension tower slot. Note that if you search the Witor web site the UJ is listed under Triumph 2000/2500 but I can confirm it fits a GT6, well mine at least! Dick
  21. Mark Fields (Jigsaw Racing) was warning years ago of fake NGK plugs; easy to sell when 'the price is right' and customers do not want to use a 'genuine' supplier. Dick
  22. Not a Mk1, they look like this and the last time there was one for sale it was an eye watering price (nearly £200 if I recall correctly). Dick
  23. I would also recommend Mike, did a 3.63 diff for me and no complaints. Dck
