  1. This is the passenger strike plate and the "slider" doesnt close like the drivers side . Initially the spring was in wrong impeding the slider . The spring looks like its been stretched . Is this setup ok to refit ? What does this slider do ??? Paul
  2. I purchased GAZ shockers from the club shop as part of the conversion from side arm to vertical shocks on my Vitesse Mk2 . Had them 2 years now and no issues . Mine have a dial at the base for adjusting the spring - I started at position 5 of 10 , this was too hard and settled at 2 Paul
  3. Add cling film over the top , then add lid Paul
  4. Im a big fan of POR15 products - Ive treated the fuel tank with their tank kit and so far its fine , though as a safety function added an inline filter after the tank . and todate its been clear . Full prep instructions followed . Ive brush painted all the ancillaries that have been upgraded / renewed- pic is water pump & housing. 2 years on and still good The only mistake ive made is put the lid back on without adding cling film - the lid wont repeat wont come off unless you destroy the lid . Paul
  5. Don’t buy R9 from eBay as there is a lot of fake around . Got the T-shirt . Gates Barricade brand is R9 grade and the only one to buy imo Paul
  6. Hi there is no vent in the vitesse tank . Possible areas for leaking are the fuel guage sender unit though more likely the hidden exit hose at the top of the tank. This is often forgotten and worth replacing with Gates Barricade ethanol proof tubing . I chose to reroute the exit pipe so it’s easy to check plus added an inline filter and an on off switch . The Club Shop sells the tubing Paul
  7. Personally I didn’t think it made any difference , others might disagree Paul
  8. I found using the spring lifter at max lift then using a scissor jack under the hub you can “nearly “ get the alignment you need then it’s a case of carefully drifting in the top bolt to get alignment, using a screwdriver to assist. This worked on one side but found the other impossible so purchased a longer bolt and ground a point to aid the alignment. Once through I bolted every thing down and cut off the point . The purist would put in the pointed bolt in the wrong way and then drift in the bolt pushing out the pointed bolt . This is one of the hardest jobs to do on the Vitesse according to Canleys Paul
  9. Pretty sure I have a spare tacho from a Mk2 Vitesse should you need one Paul
  10. Ramps now redundant as new pit is finished.pm if interested Paul
  11. Hi , I fitted Accuspark electronic ignition on my Vitesse mk2 , this being the cheapest option. The conversion had worked for me and has proven reliable for the last 2 years . Paul
  12. https://www.barons-auctions.com/view-lot/2910/for-sale-at-barons-auctions-1966-triumph-herald-1250?utm_medium=email&utm_source=sharpspring&sslid=M7Uwt7A0MzewMLC0BAA&sseid=M7QwMzI2NjExMwcA&jobid=51b2cf57-1374-464e-94dd-27eb0d19d0bc Looks in fine condition, and the value looks too low . My guess is £5,500 any more values ? Paul
  13. Hi I fitted the Club shop high torque on my vitesse mk 2 and removed the 2 thin shims . I have a spare engine so was able to measure the depth required . If you get stuck I still have the Bendix starter which you could borrow assuming you are not to far away from Bury St Edmunds Paul
  14. This is the link for the Nissan Micra heater blower upgrade Paul
  15. I used the cheap ones on my Vitesse , they work fine though the quality is not brilliant . The locating lug is a weak link and could easily get pulled off. Given the choice again I would still opt for the £ fiver option Paul
  16. Hi Tom , brackets made up though not collected yet. Next job is to finish the pit www.mech-mate.co.uk I’m putting in and the tow bar will be the first job using the pit. Will be looking for a small trailer Paul

    Car Lifts

Saw this on Facebook bit bulky but a cheap solution https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/419027615529987/ Paul
  18. I used the Canleys method, assemble dry and check end float which I did by “ eye” ie minimum end float . One side went fine the other took several goes to get right. Not saying I’ve done the end float correctly though this was 2500 miles ago . Fingers crossed . Paul
  19. Canleys reccomend polybush everything except trunnions which is what im doing on my Vitesse mk2. Paul .
  20. I upgraded to crystal halogens for about £50 for my Vitesse and they work fine. Mind had a flat lens which for the purist might not be acceptable. Also use the opportunity to add relays to save the dashboard switch Paul
  21. I used Autosparks https://www.autosparks.co.uk/ Not the cheapest but a 1stop shop plus they have a catalogue which is very useful. Paul

    Oil filter

Putting the accessibility of the spin off filter aside which one is best for the engine . Spin off or original Paul
