  1. No - as outlined above, they will be too long as the rotoflex GT6 shocks mount onto the wheel arch. Gully
  2. I've seen people recommend Dave Mac Propshafts - they pop up in response to a Google search. Gully
  3. Those with much more knowledge than me can reply about the differences in engine mountings and gearboxes, but one minor point with potential consequences is that the 2000 engine was canted over slightly, so when brought upright in the Spit6 will need a shorter dipstick, otherwise you'll be running with less oil on the full mark than you think you are! Gully
  4. A 2l from a Mk 2 2000, or Mk 2 GT6? Gully
  5. It all comes down to where businesses look to recover the costs of the person doing the posting and packing - as part of the P&P, or the overhead / margin on the goods. That's the main reason for it varying widely. A private seller isn't going to charge their time, whereas a business will somewhere in the transaction / purchase cost. Gully
  6. Worth having a read of Andy Cook's article in Courier 417 from March 2015 - good guide to setting the rotoflex end float without the Churchill tools as well as the works sequence. Gully
  7. I sincerely hope Triumph World magazine picks up this fantastic story and makes a major feature of it. Gully
  8. Ah - I was at Crofton from '81 to '86.? Gully
  9. Bought mine in Tamworth and drove it back to Hertfordshire via the M6 and M1 without worrying whether or not I'd make it - don't think it even occurred to me! Gully
  10. I do like the front end of the Dolly! Gully
  11. I bought mine earlier in the year direct from the man himself - Fuzz Townsend - on his stand at Chateau Impney Hill Climb! Gully
  12. Welcome! Grew up in Stubbington, where my parents still live - regularly wander down to Lee when I visit them, so will keep my eyes open for a white striped, Damson Vitesse! Gully
  13. From recollection eurocarparts will list lots of Triumph motorcycles, the Acclaim and TR7. Never found anything earlier in their listings. Gully
  14. Just some musing - no knowledge! Was the 1500 not used in the MG Midget? Not sure if changes were made to the ancillaries to mate Triumph and MG components? Gully
  15. Welcome aboard! That's some toy cupboard... ? Gully
  16. I suspect there's some confusion going on when people are reading the info on triumphspitfire.com. I trawled the site repeatedly trying to find the info on engine numbers indicated above and I can't! What it states in the detail table is that commission KE101 began in 1971 - ergo leaving the October to December 1970 cars with earlier numbers. The site also says on the summary page that commissions KE0001 to KE04596 were issued in 1971. Clearly both can't be right! What it doesn't do (that I can find) is say anything other than the engine references being KE. Gully
  17. Took me about 3 different caps to find one deep enough to pressurise. The ones that are too short seal on the filler neck, so no leakage, but allow the water to pass into the expansion bottle very quickly as the car warms up and the coolant expands. Gully
  18. I wondered if Doug was onto something, as my car is commission number 83 with engine KE184HE - 101 apart! I've just flicked through the Richard Dredge and Graham Robson books on the Spitfire and GT6, along with John Thomason's Guide to Originality and none of them mention the engine numbering - only the prefix KE for the Mk 3. Gully
  19. I considered a Mk III GT6 in Java Green before buying mine - beautiful colour, but the body had been restored off the chassis and the gaps really were all over the place. From time to time I hanker after a Stag - in Java Green... Gully
  20. Mine is without the pipe too - although it is shown on the parts diagram. Main issue in not having it is when the petrol pump cuts off late and the excess fuel exits the filler neck into the rear wing, whereupon it evaporates and stinks out the car! Gully
  21. Sounds as though you're absolutely fine on temps - wouldn't mess any further! I would, however, sort the pinking - lean running can lead to hotter running. Gully PS. In this hot weather my GT6 runs around the 2/3 mark and I can watch the temperature modulation of the thermostat on the gauge. Even sitting in traffic on a hot day it doesn't move above 3/4 - 40+ years old gauges really are just an indication. Many moderns don't even have them - just a warning light - and those that do have heavily damped ones
