  1. I'm putting off changing my clutch slave cylinder as I can't face the tunnel out hassle in this warm weather. Must be the final component that hasn't been changed over the past 5 years! What's really irritating is that 14 months ago I put it back together so well I needed to use the heater through the winter! Gully
  2. Kempston Radiators at Bedford seem a good bet. I need to drop my 'spare' rad into them at some point to get the filler neck replaced as the flange over which the cap tightens has fractured. It also has a very small leak on the core, which is irritating as it occurred about 15 months after I'd bought it as a recored / refurbished / upgraded one (via an advert in The Courier). I did speak to them about it a while ago and they quoted me a reasonable amount, but not got around to delivering it to them after I acquired a NOS one from a local club member. A friend of mine in Tewin recommended them - they've done a couple of classic and race car rads for him over the past few years. Gully
  3. It was the Ye Three Fyshes in Turvey alongside the river. Driven past on a few occasions since and there's never been a band playing! Gully
  4. I think Pete's answered the question in the title - the seats aren't handed, but the runners / attachment fittings are, so have to be swapped over. And the side on which the seat is being used dictates the set of fixing holes adopted. Gully
  5. My daughter's Halfords booster seat / cushion is a perfect fit on the GT6 seats - when said cushion is rotated 180 degrees so the front is against the seat back! Mind you, we were lucky in that we bought one whilst booster cushions alone were available - now they all come with backs. We have got a full-on child seat with all the fandango wrap-around cocoon bits too, which gets used when my wife's driving or we're doing long holiday journeys. Gully
  6. Also clear in my diary - looking forward to the third instalment! Gully
  7. Bought mine from Rimmers - just the job. Gully
  8. Sorry, I've never used it (but hopefully my replying will bump your question up the list a bit!). Gully
  9. Welcome aboard! Looks a fascinating project, and another one saved! Gully
  10. Check with the club shop - I seem to recall they were offering the equivalent of the Lucas 22D6 (which has vacuum advance and tacho drive) with electronic innards. Sourced from H+H Ignition IIRC. Gully
  11. Caveat emptor - always... Gully

    The Apocalypse

Rain is pounding down here this morning in the Lake District - should stop by the time we go home next Saturday! Strangely enough, none of the grass here is that beautiful golden colour of home... Gully
  13. The postage and packing costs charged by different companies are becoming a differentiator - increasingly more frequently than the parts costs. I'm sure it's not by coincidence that Canleys, Rimmers and Paddocks all run their online portals in a slightly different manner so VAT and delivery are added at different points in the transactions. Then there's the question of whether or not the company tries to recover part of the wage costs of the person doing the picking and packing via the delivery charges. If the company is handling a lot of orders they can do so with only a small inflation in the p&p cost, but somewhere like the club shop is not going to be able to do that and remain competitive, although I suspect they benchmark against other online suppliers. Car Insurance

Green Flag place an age limit of 15 years on the vehicle - heard it in the gabbled "small print" at the end of their radio advert a couple of weeks ago. Gully
  15. I bought 2 GTR108 senders last year when trying to resolve an odd temperature indication - one from eBay and the other from Canleys. Both gave the same readings - 1 had a red plastic isolator (think it was the Canleys one) and the other a black isolator. Both had the same thread, but whilst the black isolator one was the same hex to screw it in (my Whitworth spanner fitted perfectly!), the Canley sender required a smaller spanner. The moral of the story is that there is more than one supplier out there and the senders do vary in sizing. Rimmers do occasionally have thread issues - I bought some polyurethane bonnet cones which had a metric thread and wouldn't screw into the captive plates. They refunded them. Gully
  16. That's all we rotoflex owners need - shimmed front bearings as well as rear! ?? Gully
  17. Also check that your radiator cap is actually seating on the inner seal and allowing the system to pressurise. I bought 3 different caps before I finally found one deep enough to seat properly. If only the top seal works, the water quickly expands into the overflow bottle. Gully
  18. "Splendid": now there's a word that's fallen into disuse. Shame really, as I'm heartily sick of everything being "amazing"... Gully
  19. I've been following on FB - great endeavour! Gully
  20. I had a pint in there a few weeks ago following our youth group's meeting at the Harpenden Trust halls in Southdown. ? Gully
  21. I'm afraid you're asking the wrong person as it's not a change I'd make. I'm certain there are some threads on here where people have fitted them though - along with details of the necessary pressure regulators. Gully
  22. Hi Gav, I suspect the end float wasn't set correctly, but can't be certain. The failed bearings were Timken parts - so would expect to be of reasonable quality - but were rumbling noisily! Gully
